The 4 Most Dangerous Suburbs in Melbourne

It has been dubbed the most liveable city in the world 6 times over, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t certain suburbs of this glorious hub that have their downfalls.

Although there are some safe and secure suburbs across outer Melbourne suburbs with lower crime rates, there are also a few that tend to have a higher rate of break-ins and security issues.

Frankston North and Pines Forest

The suburb, which is located south-east of the Melbourne CBD, has had whispers about its security levels for a few years now. But as of 2017, it was reported as the 3 rd riskiest place to live with 1 in every 20 homes burgled.

Clyde, Clyde North, and Cardinia

The three neighbouring suburbs have experienced less than pleasurable levels of burglary in the past year, with 1 in every 20 homes reportedly broken into. Although this number has improved since the last year, it is still a cause for concern – making it the 2 nd riskiest area to reside in Victoria.

Rockbank and Plumpton

Located roughly an hour outside of the CBD, the Rockbank/Plumpton township is known for its rurality and housing development areas. However, in 2017 it was labelled on of the most dangerous areas to live, with 1 in every 25 homes said to be burgled according to RACV. This statistic has made the area the 4 th most burgled area in Victoria.

Broadmeadows

Making its way into the top 10 riskiest places to live outside of Melbourne is the North West town of Broadmeadows. Although its rates have improved since 2015, which saw them as the 7 th riskiest place to live, the 1 in every 32 homes burgled statistic still makes the area a relatively dangerous one.

Aggravated Burglaries

Whilst these suburbs are relatively high up compared to rates across Victoria, there have also been a rise in aggravated burglaries in areas like Williams Landing, Caulfield, Sunshine, Cranbourne and more.
